5/11 Cubs vs. Brewers
The Cubs have a very right-handed heavy lineup for Friday’s game against Milwaukee’s Randy Wolf. Chicago enters the game batting .240 against left-handed pitchers, 10th best in the National League. The Cardinals are first, hitting .301. This will be Matt Garza’s first start since April 29. He was skipped one time because of the flu. Here you go:
CF Johnson
RF Baker
SS Castro
1B LaHair
LF Soriano
3B Mather
C Castillo
2B Barney
P Garza
– Carrie Muskat

Glad to see LaHair is now “good enough” to face left handers, especially after having some rest from an off day. Nice vote of confidence by Sveum. Wolf may still make a lefthander look bad but I’ll take my chances with LaHair having a shot at the soft tossing, crafty veteran south paw. Resting DeJesus for Johnson and Stewart for Baker makes a lot more sense. It’s the “Lahair vs. Wolf” show tonight….interesting.
Maybe tonight vs. Wolf Soriano will have a good night, possibly even hitting his first homer.
wow i saw this lineup and threw up in my mouth…….Campana is 2 for 6 against lefties… give the guy a shot… Barney I am fine with but I really want to see Cardenas get an extended look at 2B. If he can produce it will be a big boost to this lineup
I want Clevenger BACK!!!!!!!
Campy has played quite a bit latley. At least if he is going to be rested it will be against a lefthander AND following a day off so his legs should be WELL rested. The little guy certainly runs more than the typical Cub. You know me, I love Campy but I’m o.k. with “swallowing” this line up even with Baker (meh…) and Johnson (who could be losing it fast this season…). I can’t believe the “break” Soto caught (no pun…) with Clevenger’s injury as I would have thought by this time he may have unseated the lumbering Soto as the no. catcher. It is a big loss we tend to overlook.
I can’t wait for Clevenger myself.
Nice to see you two getting along,
Oh and I agree about these righty/lefty things. Lets find out who these guys are, how do we know Campy can’t hit the lefty? If a guy can hit, he can hit. This match up thing is great, but it has its place. And that is not everyone, and all the time.
Its a good thing they didn’t do that to Ryno, when he started 0-30 somthing, to start his career.
Ok, on the other hand I see right handed hitters are killing Wolf this year.
What are you gonna do?
Thats why I’m an Estimator, and not the mgr..
I like the valuable info you provide in your articles.
