5/25 Sveum: “I’m lost for words”

The losing streak reached 10 games Friday after the Cubs dropped a 1-0 decision to the Pirates. It wasn’t that Pittsburgh won. Chicago beat itself, going 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position. This is the first time the Cubs have lost 10 in a row since they dropped the first 14 games of the 1997 season. It’s the franchise’s 15th skid of 10 games or more.

“I think that’s the problem is that we’re trying too hard,” Alfonso Soriano said. “We want to have the big hit and try to make the team better and try to win. We have to be more relaxed and let it happen. This game is not too easy but sometimes we make it harder. I think we’re making it harder because we’re trying too hard. We have to play one at-bat every pitch, and not try to do too much. I think now everybody is trying to do too much because we’re struggling offensively.”

How bad is it? They’ve scored in only four of the last 56 innings. The Cubs now have scored two runs off a starting pitcher in the last six games, a total of 37 2/3 innings.

“It’s unbelievable,” Dale Sveum said. “To out-hit the opponent every night and not score, and we can’t seem to get that hit with men in scoring position. … I’m a little lost for words now. It’s kind of the same thing. Guys are battling and having decent at-bats, good at-bats, and just not finalizing it, really. There’s a lot of good at-bats. They’re just not getting it done.”

The Cubs just plain stink this year! I have already stopped watching them for the season. Very disappointed in the offseason moves, and whats going on out on the field everyday.

this is the worst team i have ever seen, what are you trying to do, tie the phillies for the most losses 23. the way your going you just might. you better do something very soon before youhave no fans

0-10 and 10 games out Glad #10 isn’t watching his Beloved Team . Losing makes everything look even worse. The Phil’s are winning and fighting with eachother in the digout. Players meeting since no help from above :)

GO CUBS! I will support you no matter how many games you win or lose.
You are great guys, great players. Don’t let the naysayers grind you down.
Relax, SMILE, and know that you will WIN soon.

It would appear that White has had some Kool-Aid. Grape, I think it was.

This is indeed another SAD YEAR for the Cubs. I’m behind them no matter if they win 100 or lose 100. For those who say they are behind the Cubs and yet when they aren’t winning they get off the train, they need to stay off the train. I live here in Minnesota and the Twins fans aren’t even FAIRWEATHER with their team. What’s up with that? I was born and raised in Gary Indiana and have now and forever will be a CUBS fan and they WILL WIN A WORLD SERIES in my lifetime just like the promoted in MLB 13 video game. I feel they just need to DO THE BASICS of everything: PITCHING, HITTING, and FIELDING. It’s all about the BASICS and to be patient as well. If they can follow that moniker, things will change for the better. Yes they should let some of the YOUNG PROSPECTS come and play but I believe in Theo Epstien and he will turn this around. BELIEVE IN THE CUBS because I do

THANK YOU FOR YOUR POSITIVE COMMENTS. I TOO BELIEVE IN THE CUBS AND WILL LOVE THEM WIN OR LOSE. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY
HARD TIME FOR EVERYONE – THE TEAM, THE FANS – BUT THE GUYS
NEED OUR SUPPORT, NOT OUR NEGATIVITY. LET’S GET THE SMILES
BACK ON THEIR FACES WITH SOME POSITIVE SUPPORT.

If some Cub fans lost a tooth and put it under their pillows, what can others do. The Cubs do not have enough talent to contend. It is frustrating. A wonderful attitude is commendable. Reality continues to be the problem.

I remember my mother saying how the Cubs will just GET TO THE WORLD SERIES in her lifetime….God rest her soul. I don’t BELIEVE that Hoystein will turn this around but I THINK he will. I would hope he TRULY starts the process one day soon because the acquired players (Stewart is no better than Vitters and DeJesus is just another non-RBI outfielder ala Byrd) as of now are way too reminiscent of what Hendry has done, enough of the middle of the road warm bodies no other GM is interested in, let’s see the hi level rookies FROM OUR OWN SYSTEM. If there is not a big roster turn over by the trading deadline a lot of us will surely be dissapointed whether or not we believe or just think.
