6/4 Cubs lineup & extra bases
It’s raining now in San Francisco but the woman at the coffee shop this morning promised it will stop in time for the Cubs to close their four-game series against the Giants.
* The Cubs have lost 15 of their last 18 games, and eight of those games have been decided by one run. They’ve lost their last 10 games on the road, starting May 15. The last time they dropped 11 in a row away from Wrigley Field was June 18-29, 1954.
* The Cubs have scored a run in nine of their last 81 innings on the road, and only three of those innings have featured a crooked number.
* Alfonso Soriano has eight home runs in his last 18 games starting May 15 and is tied with the White Sox’s Dayan Viciedo for the most in the Majors starting at that date. Soriano also is batting .286 (18-for-63) with four doubles, eight homers, 14 RBIs and a .730 slugging percentage in his last 18 games.
* The Cubs ‘pen has given up two runs on 16 2/3 innings in the last week.

Pretty good offensive stats for Soriano since…..Opening Day….May 15th, 2012. Let’s hope any AL GM that has ANY interest in Soriano’s “free” services also overlooks his “pre 5/15″ stats. Really, for his own sake as well as the Cubs’ Soriano needs to go to the AL AS AP.
yea see if the yankees want him back. I don’t care what his offense has been lately cause the runs he’s brought in hasn’t come close to the runs he’s allowed with that bum knee. How is he not on DL..? I’m just waiting for the day he goes out for a fly only to have his leg break from under his crap knee.
A rain-out may be a blessing in disguise for this club the horsebleep way their offense is performing. I would be embarrassed to be a member of this roster and not a starting hurler or productive bullpen contributor. Cubs: stop losing!

Any other player would have been placed on the DL, but not Sori. A home run here and there, which LaHair can do at LF, isn’t worth the bad defense.

Why not play Castro at lead-off and Campana second. Castro is not a clutcvh hitter. He hits singles primarily. His and Campana would make a good combination for a double steal. Also bat Barney third. he is the closest thing they have to a clutch hitter. Put DeJuue and Clevenger in 6 and 7. Stewart goes 8 until he starts hitting more than 200.

sounds good. he hit well in lead-off last year. cant see them sticking Barney in #3 though that’s where I would like to see him. hopefully can turn things around against the brewers. go cubbies…
