6/6 All-Star Smokies
Four members of Double-A Tennessee were named to the Southern League All-Star Game. Position players Jim Adduci and Justin Bour will join Frank Batista and Kevin Rhoderick on the North Division team for the June 19 game, to be played at Smokies Park. Players were selected by a vote of Southern League field managers, radio broadcasters, general managers and print media. Adduci, 27, will make his third appearance on an All-Star team, having being named to both the Florida State League’s mid-season and postseason teams in 2008. Batista, 23, was named to an All-Star team for the third time in his young career. The right-handed reliever was named to the FSL mid-season and postseason squads in 2011. This season, Batista has converted all seven of his save opportunities and has a 1.23 ERA. Bour, 24, heads into the All-Star break as one of the Southern League’s big hitters. His 43 RBIs leads the Southern League, and he is also tied for the team lead in home runs (6) and second in doubles (13). Rhoderick, 23, was named to his first All-Star team in only his second season of professional baseball. A right-handed reliever, he has an 0.79 ERA with six saves.
