6/9 Minor League report
Anthony Rizzo hit his 18th homer and Luis Valbuena added his seventh in Iowa’s 5-4 win over Nashville in the first game of a doubleheader Friday. Rodrigo Lopez started, and gave up four runs on 10 hits over six innings. In the second game, Ryan Rowland-Smith gave up one run on two hits over four innings in a 6-0 loss. Brett Jackson had two hits.
Welington Castillo had two hits, including a home run, for Tennessee in a 4-3 win over Mississippi. It was Castillo’s first rehab outing. He started at first base, but was scheduled to catch on Saturday. Nick Struck gave up three runs on seven hits over six innings for the win. Logan Watkins had two hits and two stolen bases.
“It’s been three weeks since I’ve been behind the plate,” Castillo told reporters at Smokies Park. “Let’s see how it goes.”
Greg Rohan hit his 11th homer in Daytona’s 3-2 win over Bradenton in the first game of a doubleheader. Rohan had two hits and two RBIs for the game. Hayden Simpson picked up the win in relief, throwing two innings. In the second game, P.J. Francescon gave up three runs — one earned — on three hits over five innings in a 4-3 loss. Francescon struck out six. Arismendy Alcantara had three hits.
Jose Rosario gave up two runs on five hits over six innings in Peoria’s 4-2 win over Cedar Rapids. Pin-Chieh Chen had two hits, one RBI and a stolen base. Anthony Giansanti had three his and was batting .313.
