7/1 Cubs lineup

Dale Sveum has more right-handed hitters in Sunday’s lineup against Wandy Rodriguez, including Reed Johnson, Jeff Baker and Joe Mather. Here’s the lineup:

Johnson CF

Castro SS

Rizzo 1B

Baker RF

Soto C

Mather LF

Barney 2B

Valbuena 3B

T. Wood P

— Carrie Muskat

Well, at first I thought Sveum finally decided to go with the best available players vs lefies when he kept LaHair in vs. Happ…now I see he is back to grasping at straws and leaving Rizzo and his worse average than LaHair…Not dissing Rizzo being in there, my point is LaHair at one time was the “Rizzo” of this team, he still has a good average, still has power and is now relagated to “can’t hit lefties label”. I realize that he indeed strugles vs. lefties SO FAR THIS SEASON but he has shown in the minors he can hit lefties and until somebody OTHER THAN THE RUN OF THE MILL BAKER pushes LaHair I think LaHair deserves the chance to prove OR DISPROVE that he can rebound vs. lefties and be given the rest of the season to do so. Seeing Baker in the lineup way to often latley and it’s getting old….am I the only one sick of how the recent string of manager relentlessly rotates certain positions because of the righty/lefty thing? NOBODY on the bench is that bettter than a “starting player” except maybe Johnson in CF over DeJesus.

“Boy, that was scary yesterday when we had lefty hitters in there against a left-handed pitcher. I know we got the win, but still. I did NOT feel at ease. Time for me to play the trusty matchups again. Jeff! Reed! Joe! Get in there!!”

Look, I know what I’m doing. When you’re facing a lefty, you put in as many righties as possible. It doesn’t matter what kind of hitters they are, or who your lefty bats are, you just stack the lineup with righties. Righty on lefty always wins. Trust me on this one.

hey cubsfan anyone know why MATHER changed uniform number to 21 from 16?

Travis wood pitching like the Sean Marshall trade is tilting towards our Cubs. A quality starting pitcher for a highly paid reliever we don’t need for a couple years. Yes, happy with trade.
