7/15 Going for the sweep

* The Cubs close their three-game series against the D-Backs on Sunday, sending Matt Garza to the mound. The Cubs have won a season-high five-straight home games for the first time since July 22-Aug. 6 last season. The Cubs’ 11-4 record in their last 15 games dating to June 25 is the team’s best 15-game stretch since an 11-4 run from August 1-16, 2011.

* Garza, has surrendered three or fewer earned runs in 17-consecutive home starts dating to June 27 of last season. That’s the longest stretch by a Cubs pitcher since Kerry Wood gave up three or fewer earned runs in 22-straight home starts from July 7, 2000-April 20, 2002. In his last 17 starts at Wrigley Field since June 27, 2011, Garza is 6-4 with two complete games and a 2.09 ERA.
