7/20 Cubs RBI team in action
The Cubs Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities program sent two teams to the RBI Central Region Tournament in St. Louis. Play began Friday. The tournament will determine the teams that advance to the RBI World Series. For the past 10 years, a Cubs RBI team has won the central tournament and reached the series.
The Cubs RBI program is run through the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs in Chicago, and supported through a grant from Cubs Care, a McCormick Foundation Fund. Cubs Care provides $100,000 to fund the entire program. The program provides nearly 300 inner city youth the opportunity to play ball and participate in weekend tournaments.
