7/25 Cubs lineup

Ryan Dempster will close the Cubs series in Pittsburgh, taking the mound Wednesday at PNC Park. Dempster enters the game with a 2.11 ERA (23 ER/98 IP) in 15 starts. The 2.11 ERA is the lowest among Major League qualifiers, as Dempster has given up three or fewer runs in 11 of his 15 starts. That includes nine starts in which he gave up one or no runs. Opponents are batting .209 against Dempster this season, tied for the third-lowest mark in the NL behind only the Nationals’ Gio Gonazalez (.203) and the Giants’ Matt Cain (.208).

Here’s the lineup:

Soriano going back to the Yankees? A-Rod is out six weeks with a broken hand. Yankees need power.

We need Soriano’s power here. He is sizzling at bat and his defense is
great.

HA! Whatever you been smoking I’d like some too. and what do we NEED him for exactly..? because the Cubs are going to go on a tear while everyone else hits a never ending downward spiral.? yea Cubs 2012 lets do this. lol.

You are so right Jesse. THE CUBS DO NOT NEED SORIANO and his much ballyhooed defense. His defense is NOT great. His defense has finally improved to average at best as he can only defend his postion when the ball is in his comfort zone. He has indeed improved his offense since the beginning of the season but to think the Cubs NEED Soriano is foolish. Just the opposite, they need to move Soriano as they need to get going on his inevitable replacement. If he heads to the Yankees the baseball gods are smiling on the Cubs….

Pirate fans just robbed DeJesus of a home run. They should be ejected
from the game! LEAVE THE BALL ALONE WHEN IT IS IN PLAY PIRATE
JERKS.

Bartman?

agreed we don’t NEED soriano. We need to ship him out now while his value is at his highest. I will say though that he would be a very good cheap DH for a contending team. I could see Soriano producing much like he is now as someone’s DH heck maybe even better. Let the guy focus on what he does best and that is hit. If the cubs save a few million on him then its perfect. As of right now we don’t have anyone pushing Soriano out the door….. Campana fizzled, Mather fizzled, Reed is on a hot streak but is he the answer, B. Jackson is striking out more than Soriano has his whole contract, Soler and Almora are too far away from the ML, I mean it just sucks…. would be nice to get Justin Upton but thats in another discussion
