7/27 Garza on hold

Matt Garza will not pitch until late next week, Cubs manager Dale Sveum said. The right-hander underwent an MRI on his elbow, which showed evidence of the cramping but was otherwise clean. He just needs to get back on a schedule. Even though he’s sidelined now, Garza could still be traded by Tuesday’s Deadline day. It’s up to the other team as to whether they want to take that risk. Monday’s starter for the upcoming series against the Pirates has yet to be determined, although it could be Justin Germano. Ryan Dempster will start Tuesday and Travis Wood on Wednesday.

The Cubs need to keep Garza. Period. End of story. Next.

Is Garza worth $18 million per year? No
Garza is good, but not great.
Trade him for at least two good pitching prospects who can be controlled by the Cubs for the next six years..
Use Garza money on Castro when the time comes.

Actuallly, I also agree. But do not think that any GM will give 2 prospects for him. Except for JIm Hendry

Ha! Nice one Joe. Agree, especially since the Cubs wouldn’t be challenging for the World Series during the remainder of Garza’s contract so we might as well get an arm or two that may contribute down the road as opposed to foolishly thinking Garza would actually help the Cubs get to the World Series NEXT SEASON. Good to see you have an opent mind, agreeing with myself and Cubs Talk…the story continues…

Open mind? After some 40 years being a Cubs fan, I can at least claim that much :o)
