8/3 Cubs lineup

The Cubs open a three-game series Friday night against the Dodgers. Steve Clevenger will be behind the plate, and Jeff Samardzija is on the mound. Samardzija had a solid July in which he went 2-1 with a 1.91 ERA in five starts, holding hitters to a .181 average. Here’s the lineup:

DeJesus CF

Castro SS

Rizzo 1B

Soriano LF

LaHair RF

Clevenger C

Barney 2B

Valbuena 3B

Samardzija P

I know he does not have any better options but I must give Sveum credit for sticking with LaHair. It is now up to LaHair to prove his worth…quickly or face being left out in the cold both with the Cubs and as a trade candidate.

Yes! I’m so happy that Barney is healthy enough to play in today’s game!…yesterday I got a signed ball from him by Wrigleyville! :)

I AGREE THAT LAHAIR NEEDS TO PROVE HIS WORTH. I THOUGHT THEY
BROUGHT JACKSON UP TODAY??? ALSO GLAD BARNEY IS GOING TO
PLAY – I THINK IT WOULD BE HARD TO GO UP TO THE PLATE AFTER
BEING HIT LIKE THAT. THESE GUYS ARE TOUGH SO I AM SURE THEY
DON’T CRINGE VERY OFTEN. GO CUBS!!

If Alfonso Soriano clears waivers, the Cubs could make a deal…….the key to all of this would Alfonso O.K. a trade…..I know what you are thinking…..what are Soriano team choices?….I know Alfonso said his first choice is Los Angeles Dodgers..(time to cringe) according to his interview on ESPN……Has Theo and Alfonso sit down in box seats during batting practice and list the teams in order?……will Alfonso have “time” to think about his new team before the deal is announce?…….will Theo have to call Dempster to O.K. any Soriano trade?……will Soriano reject a trade if the trade is announce on Twitter or Facebook before he knows about it?…..How much will the Cubs pay someone to take Alfonso?……..Has Soriano do a rough draft yet to thank the Cubs fans for a Tribune ad?…..if Soriano gets traded, will the Cubs fans see Brett Jackson…..or Dave Sapplet in left field?

Before I watch the Cubs tonight, I will take sneak looks at Albert Pujols and Mike Trout as the White Sox and Angels do battle on the South Side.

If Dempster keeps giving up 8 runs per game in the A.L. West, his value will keep on dropping when Free Agency comes around.

Sounds like Matt Garza is heading to the DL…….I see a July 2013 trade happening.

Cubs Talk, although I am happy that the mediocre, over rated Dempster is gone, in all fairness Dempster hasnt been giving up 8 runs per game….it happened once. He’s gone and I for one don’t care if he gives up 8 runs per game or no runs per game. His time in Chicago has come and gone and I will now look forward to seeing Hoystein unload THE LAST DINOSAUR of the Hendry era…Sorinao! So we can truly see how HOYSTEIN BUILDS HIS TEAM. No more blaming Hendry soon enough….
