* Chris Volstad takes the mound Saturday night for the Cubs. Volstad is looking for his first win since July 10, 2011, and has gone 20 starts without a “W.” Expect James Loney in the Dodgers lineup. He’s 5-for-17 (.294) against Volstad, who is coming off eight shutout innings against Oklahoma City.
* Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers. The Cubs are 12-18 against left-handed starters, but 8-1 in the last nine games against southpaw starters. Alfonso Soriano is 3-for-8 and Jeff Baker 4-for-11 against Kershaw.
* Luis Valbuena’s RBI double Friday was his first extra-base hit since July 17 (13 games) and first RBI since July 19 (11 games).
