8/4 Minor League report
Josh Vitters and Jeff Frazier each had three hits in Iowa’s 4-1 loss to Colorado Springs on Friday. Ryan Rowland-Smith gave up one run on two hits over six innings, striking out six. Note: Rodrigo Lopez was placed on the disabled list with a strained right shoulder, retroactive to Aug. 1. Lopez was 2-5 with a 5.28 ERA in 18 appearances (15 starts).
Tennessee’s game against Jackson Friday was postponed because of rain.
Kyler Burke gave up three runs on four hits over five innings in Daytona’s 6-2 loss to Dunedin. Vladimir Frias had three hits in his second game with Daytona. He was playing with the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League. Kyle Hendricks, acquired from the Rangers in the Ryan Dempster deal, made his first appearance, and gave up two hits in one inning of relief.
Javier Baez hit his 12th home run in Peoria’s 4-2 loss to Quad Cities, and then got the news that he was being promoted to Daytona. Baez had two hits and was batting .333. Zeke DeVoss had two hits.
Rock Shoulders and Dong-Yub Kim each homered in Boise’s 6-5 loss to Spokane. It was Shoulder’s sixth home run.
Dillon Maples, coming back from an elbow injury, gave up one hit over 1 2/3 innings in Mesa’s 7-5 win over the Diamondbacks. Jacob Rogers had three hits, Albert Almora had two hits.
