Why is Barney hitting 8th???

Because Vitters is younger than Barney???? Remember, this is the new cowtow
to the youth movement.!!!

cause thats where he belongs… plus the 2 hole gives Vitters another at bat (possibly)

Yeah, I guess Barney can hit his homeruns anywhere in the lineup they want to
put him. And Vitters and Jackson can get no hits anywhere they want to put
them. That makes sense.

Maybe Sveum FINALLY has decided to get more ab’s for Vitters, hence the #2 hole, could mean one more ab per game. Barney is a natural #2 hole hitter but we don’t need wins anymore, we nedd auditions. I know, I know…then why is Jackson batting higher up? Hey, I gave it a shot. There does not seem to be much ryhme or reason with Sveum latley. As long as Valbuena and Mather don’t rob these two kids of their playing time, I guess it’s a good thing.

ISN’T batting higher up….

Hitting eighth is more difficult in some cases. A number two hitter should be good at moving runners and hitting behind runners. The eight place hitter is no longer the worst hitter other than the pitcher; that player must find a way to get on the bring the pitcher to bat in the inning. Barney is a good, smart hitter. He can hit anywhere. Batting Vitters second gives him a chance and the organization a chance to see if he belongs at this level. Joey is right again. After 100+ years, waiting is not fun but necessary.

Hooray! THANKS JIM! You related to Bake?

No. True Blue is the only way to go. Bake was a Cardinal at one time. We all have our faults. Well, there is one individual on the blog that is perfect. If you don’t believe me ask him. Joey, he disagrees with you often.

Just checking to see if you “got” my Cardinal reference, nice. Sigh, if we can only aspire to be as perfect as … as… I forgot the name. I guess that’s a good thing huh? :) I think Sveum finally has come to his senses, during an interview he pretty much echoed what I said about getting Vitters some more abs (and what Steve Stone was questioning as well). With Stewart very questionable for next season if not doubtful (non-tendered?) Vitters’ playing time THIS season may have a lot to do with how the roster (and payroll) shapes up for next season. Hopefully Sveum will give up his ill advised strategy to “win ball games” by playing the juggernaut bats of Valbuena, Mather, and even DeJesus and get more abs for Vitters, Jackson and even LaHair! We already know Valbuena is a weak hitter with no power so he will NOT be a candidate for 3B, we know that DeJesus at best is a fourth outfielder and NO lead off man so find out if Jacksons can reduce his strikeouts and if LaHair can regain his hitting prowess. If not then move on from both, but certainly don’t rely on Valbuena or DeJesus as the answers to an every day player. TRUE BLUE Jim, all the way!

Even though Barney was 8th, he did an amazing job! :)

Yes he did, Isabel. He is an amazing Cub.

Hehe…that’s my man! He is an amazing Cub!

Barney is a player!!!

:)
