8/29 Minor League report

Alfredo Amezaga hit his sixth home run in Iowa’s 7-3 loss to Nashville on Tuesday night. Horacio Ramirez took the loss, giving up seven runs over 4 2/3 innings. Tony Campana had two hits.

Logan Watkins hit a walkoff home run in the 10th to lift Tennessee to a 6-5 win over Mobile. Michael Brenly had three hits, including his sixth home run. Watkins also hit a double and was batting .280. Frank Batista picked up the win, despite blowing a save in the top of the ninth.

Daytona’s doubleheader against Clearwater on Tuesday was postponed because of rain. The teams were going to try to play two games on Wednesday.

Wisconsin scored three runs in the ninth to beat Peoria, 4-1. Jacob Rogers had a hit, and now has hit safely in five of his last six games.

Stephen Bruno had three hits in Boise’s 7-3 win over Everett. Wilson Contreras had two hits and two RBIs. Brian Smith picked up the win in relief.

Garrett Schlecht was 4-for-4 and scored three runs in Mesa’s 6-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

I know Campana did not set the world afire but I sure would have rather seen Mather sent down or released and have kept Campana for late inning defense, pinch running, sac bunts and of course the occassional infield single. Mather over Campana…eh….

Ha! Another good one Mamma. Maybe Campana can pitch too?

I know, but his usefullness as just a pinch runner and defensive outfielder would be better served than Mather who has no skills that stand out. I don’t think he is known as a defensive wizzard in the outfield or at 3B and he certainly isn’t hitting the robust .250- .260 Campana can. Not an issue, just fillin’ space…

I don’t get it, having Campana on the bench instead of Mahter decimates our bullpen?
