9/3 Minor League report
Junior Lake hit a game-winning three-run home run in the top of the 15th inning to lift Tennessee to a 7-3 victory Sunday over Pensacola. It was Lake’s 10th home run. Logan Watkins had two hits and two RBIs. Casey Harman threw four innings in relief for the win. The Smokies close their season Monday against Pensacola.
Taylor Davis hit a walkoff single to lift Daytona to a 3-2 win over Brevard County in the regular season finale. Daytona finished 59-74. Javier Baez hit two home runs for his first multi-homer game of the season. He batted .188 at Daytona. Ryan Searle started, and gave up one earned run over six innings. Baez will play in the Arizona Fall League, which begins Oct. 9.
Jorge Soler hit his third home run but it wasn’t enough as Peoria lost 5-4 to Kane County. Soler was batting .333 and has 15 RBIs. Starling Peralta gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings, striking out eight.
Boise begins the playoffs on Monday against Yakima. It’s Game 1 of the Northwest League East Division series. Boise won the second-half title with a 24-14 record. Pierce Johnson was scheduled to start for the Hawks.
