9/11 Extra bases

* With a win Monday night over the Astros, the Cubs have their first four-game winning streak on the road since they won five, July 31-Aug. 4, 2011.

* The Cubs have matched their longest overall winning streak of the season. They had won four in a row twice, June 29-July 2, and July 8-15.

* Darwin Barney now has played a National League single-season record and overall NL record 126-straight games without an error at second base. The old overall NL mark was 123 games, set by Ryne Sandberg, June 21, 1989, to May 17, 1990. The Major League record single-season errorless streak by a second baseman is 141 games, held by Placido Polanco and set in 2007 with the Tigers.

Barney’s streak at second base spans 1,018 1/3 innings since his only 2012 miscue at second base, April 17 in Miami.

* Pitching matchups vs. the Astros:

Tuesday: RHP Justin Germano (2-6, 6.95) vs. RHP Jordan Lyles (3-11, 5.55)

Wednesday: LHP Travis Wood (5-11, 4.42) vs. LHP Fernando Abad (0-3, 5.30)

Fun game to watch. Sappelt is looking GOOD. Barney is ROCKING GOOD!
Go Cubs – you are coming together at last.

I understand you mean GOOD, not GREAT I believe you even spelled it correctly and capitlized it.
Nice job. Yours and other’s judgement is allowed and appreciated at any time.

Actually, Joey, I think Barney is ROCKING GREAT!

Omg you guys BARNEY is doing great!🙂

Now THAT is definatley true White, Barney’s defense ROCKS GREAT and he is a “good little hitter” too!!

Love the way Barney goes after a hard smash, snags it, has so much time he has to WAIT for Rizzo to get to first before throwing! THAT’s the KIND of player needed for success. With efforts like that a player gains the respect and admiration of his teammates, especially the pitchers. Same goes for Jackson’s style of play. I don’t want Soriano anywhere near these kids in fear that his “if I get to it, I get to it” style of play may rub off on them. Soriano may (MAY) be a great clubhouse guy and moral mentor but he is no way a player that can lead by example of his field play.

Lets hold judgement on Sappelt till he plays more games… he hasn’t done anything great yet but hasn’t hurt us either.
