9/12 Cubs to stay in Boise
The Cubs and Boise Hawks have agreed to a two-year extension of their player development contract. The Idaho Statesman first reported the news today, and a team official confirmed. The Hawks have been a short-season Class A affiliate of the Cubs since 2001. In 12 seasons with the Cubs, Boise has qualified for the Northwest League playoffs six times, including each of the last two years.
The Cubs have yet to announce whether they will renew their PDC with Class A Daytona and Class A Peoria. Chicago has agreements with Triple-A Iowa thorugh the 2016 season and with Double-A Tennessee through 2014.
