Mather and Vitters again. GEEZ! Is it raining again, too?

Yep. Wonder what the attendance will be tonight?

lol i guess people are going to complain about the lineup until the last day of the season. he could be drawing names out of a hat for all i care.

Mather thrown out costing us a run on the same insane 2 out sacrifice fly of last week. Pat Listach is a statue coach on third base. Another cub first to screw this up twice in one season.

Listach and McKay are serious improvements. and what would you do, you want them to bring in someone else for the players to ignore? If they were running all out instead of checking out the play behind them, this wouldn’t be an issue. Rookie mistakes aren’t going to be solved by a new 3rd base coach.

Listach was bench coach for Quade last year in that debacle. Cardinal rule is that you do not risk 3rd out by advancing with two outs. Let your runner score–stick to second where you can still score on a base hit. MATHER is so foolish on the bases time after time and he is a veteran.

actually the rule is don’t make the 3rd out at 3rd… if you make the 3rd out trying to get to 2nd big deal you were trying to get into scoring position…

A moot point. Bad is bad and Mather along with quite a few other players should not be brought back next season. A team can only carry so many .200 hitters that don’t even bring stellar defense. At least Valbuena (sounds like he IS returning) brings a good glove for late inning defense. Mather? Why is he valuable again????

Chico–do you get sportsnet central Todd Hollandsworth just showed Vitters hustling home with Mathers foolishly trying to advance. Todd went nuts on how dumb this play was and a repeat of last week. Vitters onreplay ran full out and did not look behind him. Colvin and DJ had 4 hits and a couple of walks between them again and maybe you heard Brenly say how they have played so well. Oh, well, Mather sealed his fate tonight anyhow.

who cares??? Name one team that has never made a bad trade because someone got hurt. Every team has those type of trades… Do you think Colvin and DJ would have made that big of a difference?

Yeah, we need to let the Colvin/DJ for Stewart trade go. It was a low risk gamble that still has a SLIGHT chance of panning out if the Cubs sign Stewart for little money and see what happens with his “recovery”. It may be worth keeping him in the stable since our only in-house option is the not-ready-for-prime-time Vitters. But at least we now know to send Vitters won’t be next year’s answer at third, which will help make the case for signing Stewart to a small deal?? Depending on how much Hoystein wants to pretend we can challenge next season (ha), maybe they’ll sign Youkilis?
