thats a great return on Baker… cubs win that deal by a wide margin

Finally, a real win, besides the Rizzo trade, on a transaction from this front office.

Wow, deciding to unload Baker and finding a taker was brilliant in itself…and now a warm body too? Genius. This is the way to build a team, unload the dead weight that has no bearing on the contribution toward sustained winning and in return receive players that will have at least a chance of contributing….next is Soriano?

except soriano isn’t dead weight… he was the biggest producer on the team this year… but ya he could be next

Dead weight that has no bearing on the CONTRIBUTION TOWARD SUSTAINED winning.

thanks for the caps i couldn’t have read it any other way….

There have been a few large wins, as you say Rizzo, the Baker trade looks very good. Signing Maholm, then getting two nice arms out of him. Soto was a cery good gamble. Dempster was very good as he would be a FA anyway. Marshall trade was good for the same reason, plus you get T Wood who was not that bad and two prospects. Zambrano was the best just watching him go, nothing needed to make that a successful trade.
Colvin and DJ was a gamble that has worked in the Rockies favor so far. That gamble netted a 3rd baseman the Cubs did not have, no one knew he would get hurt. So that makes that one look bad to this point.
Dejesus and Maholm signings were very good. Not going after Pujols and Fielder saved tons.
These guys are doing great building from the bottom up. Hope there Focus on the future continues and they have the sustained success they are building for the Cubs.
