12/17 Winter ball update

Junior Lake hit a grand slam in the fifth inning Sunday to help Estrellas beat Gigantes, 5-3, in Dominican Winter League play. It was Lake’s fifth home run, and he was batting .324 overall with 23 RBIs in 41 games. Cubs pitcher Rafael Dolis picked up a hold in the game, striking out one and giving up one hit in one-third of an inning.

Tony Campana has finished his Venezuelan winter league assignment. He batted .231 in 16 games with Leones del Caracas, totaling eight stolen bases and compiling a .322 on-base percentage.

That just opens up a hole at 2B. Ether way we need to find somebody! But, you’re right, if Castro can cut back on his errors by playing third that helps the infield defense because then you have a better fielder at SS in Barney and it may be easier to plug 2B rather than 3B. But I think we will be watching Stewart flounder at 3B.

Sorry wrong post!

Lil Tony….not lookin’ like he’s gonna stick next season…C’mon Tony!!!

Ah….Carlos Pena, the guy Hendry had to have to make us forget about D. Lee. What a jokster that Hendry was. He must have had a great sense of humor for pulling off such laughable trades and FA signings. Maybe he can take his act on the road and do some stand up with Milton Bradley.
