1/29 Winter league update
Luis Valbuena scored the game-winning run on Jose Yepez’s 11th inning single to lift Lara to a 3-2 win over Carlos Zambrano and Magallanes on Monday in the Venezuelan championship series. Valbuena was 1-for-4, but reached in the 11th on an error. Zambrano gave up two runs, one earned, on eight hits over six innings, striking out five. Lara leads the best-of-seven series, 3-2, with Game 6 on Tuesday. The winner advances to the Caribbean Series.

I like Valbuena. He can be a valuable contributor this upcoming campaign spelling Stewart at the hot corner, if not more. He has some occasional pop in his bat as well.
He does seem to be a valuable bench player, if he could only hit a little better when he gets back in the majors….but you are right, for some reason I think Stewart will need some spelling…. not reall a good thing though….
A centerfielder in that same game you cite was highlighted on Sportscenter today in the “top ten plays of the day.” He was recognized for two outstanding defensive plays, one being a catch and the other a dart he threw to home plate to nail a baserunner. Do not recall his name nor do I know if he`s the property of a major league club. I believe he`s a teammate of Valbuena on that Venezuelan club, but can`t confirm; he may have played with the opposition. One more thing I liked about that game`s outcome: Carlos Zambrano`s team lost.
Zambrano!!!!!!!! Whoooo one of my favorite pitchers we had before! My favorite part about him was his temper!
