3/8 Cubs roster moves
The Cubs reduced the spring roster to 59 players on Friday. Outfielder Matt Szczur was optioned to Double-A Tennessee, while two non-roster invitees, pitcher Dayan Diaz and Michael Brenly, were assigned to Minor League camp. The spring roster consists of 30 pitchers (10 non-roster invitees), five catchers (two non-roster invitees), 14 infielders (five non-roster invitees) and 10 outfielders (three non-roster invitees).
