4/7 Minor matters

Ryan Sweeney went 3-for-3 in his first game with the Iowa Cubs but it wasn’t enough as they lost, 8-3, to Albuquerque. Brooks Raley took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits over four innings.

Tennessee scored eight runs in the top of the 12th to beat Pensacola, 9-1. The Smokies sent 14 batters to the plate in the 12th. Matt Szczur hit a two-run single to break the tie, Jae-Hoon Ha added a two-run single, then Rafael Lopez hit a two-run double and Szczur finished his night and the inning with a RBI single. Frank Batista picked up the win in relief.

Jorge Soler hit his first home run of the season in Daytona’s 4-2 win over Brevard County. Soler was batting .417 so far. Tim Saunders was 3-for-4.

Oliver Zapata had three hits and five RBIs in Kane County’s 13-10, 11-inning loss to Quad Cities. The two teams combined for 36 hits. Rock Shoulders was 4-for-6 and Dan Vogelbach had three hits.

I think he may just be waiting for either Dejesus’s limp bat to be traded or Soriano’s over-rated bat to be traded. Of course, Sweeney doesn’t play CF does he? So could be down to the highly anticipated, miraculous Soriano trade.
