4/8 Minor matters

Ryan Sweeney was 2-for-3 with a solo home run but it wasn’t enough as Iowa lost, 7-3, to Albuquerque. Brett Jackson and Darnell McDonald also each had a hit and scored a run. Nick Struck took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits over five innings.

Justin Bour had two hits, including a RBI double, but Tennessee lost, 5-4, to Pensacola. Kyle Hendricks gave up five runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out five.

P.J. Francescon threw five shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out six, in Daytona’s 9-0 win over Brevard County. Jorge Soler hit his second home run in as many games and Micah Gibbs hit his first of the season. Soler’s blast came in the sixth and scored Javier Baez, who had singled.

Quad Cities scored two runs in the 13th to beat Kane County, 3-1. Rock Shoulders had two hits to extend his hitting streak to four games. Michael Heesch started, and gave up one hit over 6 1/3 innings.
