4/15 Minor matters – Monday’s game

Darwin Barney went 4-for-5 with a double Monday for Triple-A Iowa in an 11-5 loss to Albuquerque. Barney was expected to rejoin the Cubs on Tuesday in Chicago for the Interleague series against the Rangers. Ian Stewart, coming back from a strained left quad, was 0-for-4 in his second rehab start game.

Bring those hits to Wrigley, Barney. We will be so happy to see you back! Bring your GG with you. Isabel loves you BUT I love you more.

I hear that although Barney has yet to play in a ML game this season he is already tied with Soriano (the bestest cleanup hitter ever! Not to mention his Gold Glove caliber defense, his off the charts baseball I.Q and his super keen eye at the plate)
homeruns and RBI’s. Sveum acknowledged how smart Barney is when it comes to knowing what to do in any given situation. THAT being the most logical and forthright comment from Svuem to date. I know Soriano will EVENTUALLY get a little hotter and EVENTUALLY drive in a run…but with Barney back tonight it will be interesting to see who gets an RBI first….

I find it more interesting how great Stewart is doing. 0 for 7 the last two games in AAA, still making huge money. Soriano is of no concern to me, he has two years left, he either gets traded or he dont. He either hits or he dont. Stewart on the other hand had a non guaranteed contract, he could have been released.

He’s all hit no glove, but Sveum will straighten him out.
