The Cubs open a three-game Interleague series against the Rangers on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Darwin Barney is back at second base. Here’s the lineup:

Hairston RF
Castillo C
Barney 2B
Gonzalez 3B
T. Wood P

Here’s why Dale Sveum is sticking to his platoon:

Sappelt .210 (26-for-124) vs. RHP; .299 (20-for-67) vs. LHP
Hairston .228 vs. RHP; .275 vs. LHP

DeJesus .292 vs. RHP; .255 vs. LHP
Schierholtz last year .175 vs. LHP; .287 vs. RHP

Welcome home Dar! Hope the rain stays away from Wrigley tonight! Been waiting for your return. P.S. DO NOT RUN INTO ANY MORE WALLS!

Isn’t it great to have him back, Isabel!!!! You can be his #1 fan tonight but as of midnight you turn into a pumpkin!

barney blew it…. what a surprise….

Yup. Barney blew it! He blew this game all by himself. No one else had anything to do with the loss. Camp didn’t blow it. Not one other player had anything to do with the loss. Bash, bash, bash.

Seems Barney is doing his best Soriano impression… but he has still a long way to go. Soriano went to the plate 25 times with a runner on base this season and not 1 of them scored… what a surprise…

Funny stuff!! Barney comes OFF THE DL, plays his first game, goes 0/4 and HE blew the game?? HA, tooooooooooooo funny Belgian, right? The ever so important Soriano with all his chances batting in the CLEAN UP spot, NO DL has yet to drive in his first run. Priceless.

I still love him.

You were supposed to turn into a pumpkin! What happened? As of the other night I again became Barney’s #1 fan. Now be a good pumpkin and let me reign. LOL

No. Just give up. Really, stop. LOL

One can imagine that Barney was horrified when Gentry caught that hit. It was a spectacular catch, that is for sure. It has been a difficult beginning of the season for Darwin – first the dang DL and then coming back to be bashed by those such as Petrey about “blowing it”. I would hope that Barney handles this with his usual dedicated and classy act.
