6/13 Minor matters

Chris Rusin threw seven shutout innings and Brian Bogusevic hit two home runs to help Iowa beat Oklahoma City, 5-1. Rusin struck out three and gave up five hits. Bogusevic drove in four runs. Junior Lake was 2-for-4 and stole a base.

Tennessee had Wednesday off, and will face Mississippi on Thursday. Alberto Cabrera was scheduled to start.

Chadd Krist hit his first home run in Daytona’s 6-3 loss to Fort Myers in the first game of a doubleheader. Ben Wells took the loss, giving up three earned runs over 3 2/3 innings. Jorge Soler had two hits, including a double. In the second game, Zeke DeVoss hit his third homer but it wasn’t enough as Daytona lost, 5-4. Matt Loosen took the loss, giving up two runs over four innings.

On Wednesday, Javier Baez and Dustin Geiger were selected to participate in the Home Run Derby for the Florida State League All-Star Game.

Kane County’s game vs. Burlington was canceled because of rain. On Thursday, Tayler Scott gets the start against Burlington.

Boise opens its season Friday at Eugene.
