6/27 Jorge Soler – UPDATED

Cubs prospect Jorge Soler has a stress fracture of his left tibia, and will be sidelined four to six weeks. Soler apparently fouled a ball off his leg in Spring Training, and the injury flared up. He will have to wear a walking boot, and will go to Mesa, Ariz., to rehab.

Theo Epstein says they are hopeful Soler can return to games this year, and want to have him play in the Arizona Fall League.

“If he gets back and plays again this year and can play in the Fall League, it should make up for [missed time],” Epstein said of Soler.

Much better news than posted on other threads this AM. Soler will heal up, be ok and the way he hits, he will probably start out at AA next year after winter ball & Spring Training. At least thats my hopes.

i think as long as he heals correctly we will see him in fall league action… he definitely should start in AA next year… and hopefully move thru it to AAA by seasons end

At this point, after all the speculation, I am just happy its just a stress fracture. I also think he will be in AAA at the end of next year. Hopefully with Baez and 3B Villanueva.

Maybe the media was kept in the dark while on-going diagnoses were conducted. I don’t see the media being relevant in this case to be quite honest Mamma. Maybe it took a while to accurately diagnose? Maybe to err on the side of caution was the prudent thing to do and the team’s doctors did know it was a stress fracture but continued to diagnose to rule out anything beyond that?
