Carrie, how does one pronounce Szczur? It will come in handy should he make it to Wrigley!!!! You know, should something crazy like that ever happen ahead of schedule…

Feldman to the Orioles for pitchers Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop

After looking at the stats, I dont understand this trade. Must have been alot of international pool player money signing involved.

That and the fact that both pitchers are under the Cubs-control for multiple years after this one. Remember, Feldman’s numbers weren’t great the last few years, but the Cubs were able to turn him around in a hurry, so maybe they hope to do the same with Arrieta and Strop, the latter of which had a pretty solid season in the Orioles bullpen last year.

ya i did the same thing Jasper but I think when you add in the acquisition of Jimenez its a pretty decent deal for us.

I agree Jasper, Cubs must have had the pool money in mind from the onset.

plus money for IFA… so you could include Jimenez in that deal HOPEFULLY… Jimenez is the top IFA this year… not a terrible deal but nothing to get excited about

Sorry, Clevenger was also packaged in that deal.

I just finished looking at the stats also and don’t get it either. I sure hope this wasn’t a take the first offer kind of deal. Really liked Feldman so far this year.

I dont think so lbrewer, I think the Cubs received the Orioles slot in the International Draft. Plus saved the rest of this years salary to Feldman. I dont get it yet either.

This hopefully explains it. Copy & pasted.

((The Orioles sent international bonus slots 3 and 4 to the Cubs, according to the team. That should amount to an additional $388,100 for the Cubs, who had an international bonus pool of $4,557,200. This is the first MLB trade involving international bonus pool money.))

that would leave about 2,395,300 left for Jimenez… cubs could also go over slot by a certain percentage which I think is 15%…. Jimenez is prolly going to want a lil less than 3 mill

basically can add another million in IFA now with marmol and torreyes trades

Yes, it does. Nicely done. Thanks.

ur welcome

Thanks everyone for clearing that up! So, who pitches tonight for us?

rusin is up tonight

Marmol to Dodgers for reliever Matt Guerrier. Lot’s of work being done today I guess!

Torreyes to Astros for IFA money

Cubs WILL get Jimenez… pretty confident now with this additional 800kish

We sent our 4th Int spot to Dodgers along with Marmol

They might have saved some of Marmols remaining contract of 5 million on that one. Just looking for a reason?

dodgers should be paying about 500k of marmols contract but idk for sure…. I don’t like giving the Dodgers IFA money because they could steal Jimenez from us…. i still don’t think Dodgers have enough to sign him at this point

yep you are right… my bad! Got 388k and 850k in trades and sent 210k to dodgers…. my bad
