7/7 Cubs 4, Pirates 3, 11 innings

Dioner Navarro hit a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning to lift the Cubs to a 4-3 victory over the Pirates and take the series on Sunday. Kevin Gregg served up a game-tying home run with two outs in the ninth to Starling Marte, but the Cubs rallied, loading the bases in the 11th before Navarro delivered. They’ve now won five of their last seven series.

“We’re playing the best team in the National League with the best record,” Dale Sveum said. “To come off a loss like we did [on Friday] and win two out of
three, it was nice beating the best team in baseball. Holding them down, our pitching did a good job. We had some timely hits and caught the ball and did a good job.”

Well that was well worth a double blueberry tart (with ice cream)! :)) Exciting game. Thanks again Cubbies. Tomorrow you can make it 3 in a row. Have to figure out what dessert will be worthy of that win!

The old Gregg is starting to show….giving up homeruns….a trade better be made sooner than later…before…you know….

Hard to say if thats the old Gregg, every Pitcher I have ever seen gives up a run now & then. At least if they stay in the Majors for more than a inning or so.
Front office and management must be working 20 hours a day right now?? (1) You still have the Draft, players must be signed by July 11th or 12th. ( I think?? ) Which means they are running out of time on Bryant. (2) The International signings, they are still in the process of signing Jiminez, but looking for more money in the Draft Pool at the same time. (3) Just traded Hairston and probably working out the final details on that trade. (4) Promoted Baez to AA, who takes his place? (5) With all that going on, still listrening to offers on Garza, Gregg, Soriano and who knows who else??
