7/10 Minor matters

Jake Arrieta gave up three earned runs over 3 2/3 innings in Iowa’s 9-0 loss to New Orleans. The Iowa Cubs now have been shutout a league-high 10 times. Ty Wright hit a double, and Marcus Hatley, Casey Coleman and Jeff Antigua combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Tennessee had Tuesday off. The Smokies will play a doubleheader Wednesday at Jackson. They’re the first of seven games in five days, with another twinbill scheduled for Friday. Eric Jokisch and Alberto Cabrera start on Wednesday.

Elliot Soto and Pin-Chieh Chen each had two hits in Daytona’s 4-3 loss to Lakeland. Ben Wells did not a get a decision, but gave up two runs on one hit and one walk over six innings. He’s 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA in his last four starts.

Kane County had Tuesday off and will return to action Wednesday at South Bend.

Boise had Tuesday off and will face Vancouver Wednesday. Duane Underwood is scheduled to start.

Mesa lost its fourth straight game, a 5-1 setback to the Diamondbacks. Jeffrey Baez had the lone extra-base hit, a double.
