7/17 Minor matters

Tuesday’s game

James Pugliese gave up two hits over six scoreless innings in Boise’s 3-0 win over Hillsboro on Tuesday. Troy Masek threw two scoreless innings of relief to pick up his first pro win. Carlos Penalver hit a double and drove in one run.

* Pitcher Juan Paniagua has joined the Kane County Cougars, and was scheduled to start Wednesday against Great Lakes. In other roster moves, pitcher Tayler Scott has been placed on the seven-day disabled list and pitcher Jose Arias, who was on the DL, has been transferred to Mesa, Ariz. A non-drafted free agent in 2012, Paniagua pitched in two games at Mesa (Rookie) last season, going 1-0 and allowing a run in 3 2/3 innings.

With Paniaugua on Wednesday do we know what day Baker will pitch next?

Braves looking for Russell & Valbuena in a trade.

I seen where they were interested in Russell and a LH hitting infielder, I seen where a reporter suggested Valbuena as a possible. Is there more to it?

James Pugliese is doing very well this year. 7 games, 6 starts and 1 bad start where he gave up 5ER in 5 IP, but even with that his ERA is at 2.75.
Maybe soon this young man will get a promotion.
I remember the 2011 Draft for this reason. Hendry had hired Rick Wilkins as the Scouting Director the year prior, then in 2011 Rick Wilkins was in put in charge of the Draft.
If you look at the players darfted in 2010 compared to those in 2011, you will see a huge difference. After that Draft in 2011, I read where other GM’s stated that the Cubs were finally starting to get it. One of those was the Red Sox GM Theo Epstein.
James Pugliese was drafted in the 18th round on 2011.
Very happy that Epstein, Hoyer and McCloud kept Rick Wilkins in the Scouting Department.
Getting older and some of that may be off a little, but the way I remember it.🙂
