7/19 Lake joins Cubs

Junior Lake was promoted from Triple-A Iowa to the Cubs on Friday, and starting in center field for their game against the Rockies. Outfielder Brian Bogusevic was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 15, with a left hamstring strain. Lake will wear No. 21.

Lake, 23, is batting .295 (46-for-156) with 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 18 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 40 games with Iowa this season, his first appearances in Triple-A. He compiled a .341 on-base percentage and a .462 slugging percentage, and was batting .295 against both left-handed and right-handed pitching. Lake’s season debut was delayed until June due to a rib fracture suffered during spring training.

Bogusevic, 29, was hitting .261 (12-for-46) with three doubles and three RBI in 13 games with the Cubs this season.

The Cubs also announced Henry Rodriguez cleared waivers and was assigned outright to Iowa.

Cool, something to look forward to for tonight’s game.

Yes, wishing Lake good luck and a happy debut on the team! I was thinking about our fun debates on this site this morning, joey. Many months of humor and exchanges of ideas – one that I remember in particular was the time you and I, joey, were going into the T-shirt business. “Hit Don’t Spit” shirts in honor of Castro’s sunflower mania! The fun we have had kidding Isabel, getting daily reports from Mamma Mia in Mesa, etc. Now with the “gag” order from those who think that baseball talk does not include humor, or food, or anything other than “bone dry” stats ———- Go Cubs!

White, baseball talk may not (I think it does) include or call for humor, food or anything but “bone dry” stats but you, I, Mamma and MANY more know that……CUBS talk REQURES such! How the hell else would us Cubs’ fans cope with such futility over all these years? Baseball will always remain fun for me whether playing it, officiating it, watching it or talking about it. Never change White, you my friend help define what baseball means to people. God bless and good health!!

Thank you joey. Bless you back! Well – Lake put on quite a show last night., Great beginning for what I hope will be a long stay for him. Another Cub’s win to lighten the mood. About had a heart attack when he hit that wall – an “oh no, not again” experience! Do you still play ball, joey?
