Monday’s games: Hendricks continues to shine and Bryant gets first pro hit
Donnie Murphy hit his 12th home run in Iowa’s 9-2 loss to New Orleans in a rain-shortened seven inning game. Nick Struck took the loss, giving up seven runs over five innings. Brad Nelson had two hits.
Kyle Hendricks gave up no earned runs over seven innings and did not get a decision as Tennessee lost 5-4 to Jacksonville. Jacksonville scored three runs in the eighth for the win. Hendricks struck out six and now has a 1.91 ERA. Justin Bour had two hits, including a solo home run. Rafael Lopez had three RBIs.
Daytona’s game against St. Lucie was postponed because of rain.
Juan Paniagua gave up two earned runs over 3 1/3 innings in Kane County’s 5-2 loss to Lansing. Reggie Golden homered for the second straight game and Rock Shoulders doubled in his second straight game.
Boise closed the first half of the season with a 10-0 win over Everett. Rob Zastryzny gave up one hit over two innings. Jacob Rogers hit a solo home run. Cael Brockmeyer had two hits and one RBIs.
Kris Bryant recorded his first professional hit, a double, and drove in two runs in Mesa’s 2-1 win over the Royals. Bryant hit a sacrifice fly and a RBI double. David DeJesus had two hits, including a double, in his third rehab game.
