7/29 Cubs lineup

Jeff Samardzija takes the mound Monday when the Cubs open an eight-game, seven day homestand, beginning with the Brewers. Samardzija (6-9, 3.94 ERA) is one of only seven pitchers in baseball with nine losses despite a sub-4.00 ERA, joining Cincinnati’s Homer Bailey (5-10, 3.77), Atlanta’s Kris Medlen (7-10, 3.74), the White Sox Chris Sale (6-10, 2.69), the Dodgers Ricky Nolasco (6-9, 3.72), Houston’s Bud Norris (6-9, 3.93) and San Diego’s Eric Stults (8-9, 3.65). Here’s the lineup:

DeJesus CF
Lake LF
Rizzo 1B
Schierholtz RF
Castro SS
Valbuena 3B
Barney 2B
Castillo C
Samardzija P

Strong trade rumor of Samardzija, Gregg & Schierholtz being traded to the Pirates.

No reports of that I have seen. The Pirates would need to give up alot of their Farm System, would they really do that?

Not going to put it out there like petrey did, but I go right along with his thinking.

ALL THREE to the Pirates? Yeesh, The Shark alone would cost them plenty. Did not know the Pirates had such a deep farm system but when you think about it they have been bad for so long that they could have racked up some decent draft picks over the years. It’s got to be tough (but good, no doubt) for the Pirates to decide to give up a lot for a RARE chance at the playoffs. I hope the pull the trigger for SOME help from SOME TEAM (if not the Cubs) as it would be good to see them make the playoffs. Where id you see/hear this trade rumor Cubs Talk?

Not even going to consider this as being real until I hear it elsewhere.

Cubs talk has no clue….. shark is being listened to…. not shopped… bigggggv difference! Shierholtz and Gregg are real possibilities as are navarro and dejesus …. there is no reason to trade shark unless someone gives us way to much…. also pirates do have some good arms in the system

JJ and Pet are right. That trade is not going to happen. A strong rumor only to Cubs Talk.
