7/29 Minor matters – early edition

Sunday’s games

Javier Baez hit two home runs but it wasn’t enough as Tennessee lost 8-5 to Birmingham on Sunday. Baez hit a two-run homer in the first and a two-run shot in the ninth. After batting .274 with 17 home runs at Class A Daytona this year, Baez now is batting .232 with 10 home runs with the Double-A Smokies.

C.J. Edwards had quite a debut Sunday at Daytona. The right-hander struck out the first seven batters he faced, and finished with eight Ks over five scoreless innings, giving up one hit and walking one in a 2-1 win over Palm Beach. The Cubs acquired Edwards in the Matt Garza deal with the Rangers.

Why isn’t Kyle Hendricks listed with the Cubs top prospects?

Thats a good question Ken. I see Maples was finally removed from the top 20. Vitters was removed, with Jackson falling to the 13th spot. Is Jackson still a top 20?
Arody’s Vizcaino dropped to the #6 spot. Although there is high hope for Vizcaino, he has not pitched in a couple years. TJ surgery and now a strained elbow or?? Just my opinion, but a guy that has not pitched in two seasons should be dropped from the top 20, until his return. Then see what he has.
