Justin Grimm gave up two runs over five innings in Iowa’s 6-3 loss to Salt Lake. It was Iowa’s sixth straight loss. Jae-Hoon Ha, J.C. Boscan and Darnell McDonald each had two hits.

Javier Baez hit a two-run homer to help Tennessee beat Birmingham, 3-2. He hit 11 home runs in the month, tied for first among all Double-A players. Christian Villanueva hit a double, and Jeffry Antigua worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the win.

Ivan Pineyro, acquired from the Nationals in the Scott Hairston deal, threw six shutout innings, striking out seven, in Daytona’s 2-1 win over Fort Myers. Dustin Geiger hit his 11th home run and Elliot Soto delivered the game-winner with a RBI single in the top of the ninth. Anthony Giansanti and Pin-Chieh Chen each had three hits.

Rock Shoulders hit his 17th home run and Jeimer Candelario hit his seventh in Kane County’s 6-3 win over Wisconsin. Felix Pena gave up one earned run over seven innings.

Yasiel Balaguert hit his fifth home run in Boise’s 7-4 loss to Everett. Kris Bryant had a single, extending his hitting streak to six games. Jacob Rogers had two hits.

Gerardo Concepcion gave up one hit over two innings in Mesa’s 2-1 win over the Giants. Kelvin Freeman had three hits, including two doubles.

It might not be a bad idea to start thinking about using some of this power hitting to fill the weak spots at 2nd & 3rd. It’s time to move DeJesus to left and let Lake patrol CF. We some guys to set the table.
