8/3 Minor matters – Friday’s games
Ty Wright hit two home runs but it wasn’t enough as Iowa lost its eighth straight game, losing 5-4 to Salt Lake. Nick Struck gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings. Wright finished with four RBIs.
Eduardo Figueroa gave up one run over five innings in Tennessee’s 1-0 loss to Jacksonville. Christian Villanueva, Rubi Silva and Matt Szczur each had two hits.
Corey Black gave up four runs over four innings in Daytona’s 9-7 win over Bradenton. Black was acquired from the Yankees in the Alfonso Soriano deal, and this was his Cubs debut. He struck out eight and walked three, giving up three hits. Chad Krist had three hits, all doubles, and Zeke DeVoss had three hits and two RBIs.
Albert Almora had three hits in Kane County’s 7-4 loss to Wisconsin. Rock Shoulders drove in three runs. Michael Heesch gave up five runs over six innings and took the loss.
Boise’s game against Everett was postponed because of rain. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday.
Erick Leal gave up two runs over five innings in Mesa’s 6-4 win over the Giants. Leal struck out eight.
