8/4 Roster move – UPDATED

Luis Valbuena was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, and infielder Logan Watkins called up from Triple-A Iowa, where he was batting .243. Valbuena has a right oblique strain. Watkins has primarily played second base with Iowa. Watkins and Donnie Murphy were in the lineup Sunday, and will be the 47th and 48th players used by the Cubs this season. The club record is 53 set last year.

Also, infielder Daniel Lockhart was promoted from Boise to Triple-A Iowa. Lockhart was batting .309 with five doubles and 16 RBI in 44 games with Boise. He ranks second in the Northwest League in hits and fifth in batting. A 10th round pick in the 2011 Draft, Lockhart is the son of former Major League infielder and current Cubs’ area scout, Keith Lockhart.

That 2011 Draft was kinda funny, if Lockhart and Maples make it as productive Major Leaguers, it will be just lucky. That Draft anf the previous under Hendry wwere so bad, that the scouting director Wilkins ran the 2012 Draft.
Lockhart, son of Cubs area Scout. Dunston, son of Cubs longtime SS. Gretzky, son of Hocky Great.
Lucky that Baez and Vogelbach were signed that year.
Looking at the 2010 Draft, we should see some on the roster now. But, you look at it and wonder, who the heck are or were these guys?? Besides Sczuzr, Jockish and Golden who is still at A ball.
