8/8 First night game

Thursday marks the 25th anniversary of what was supposed to be the first night game at Wrigley Field on August 8, 1988. The game was ultimately postponed because of rain in the middle of the fourth inning with the Cubs leading the Phillies 3-1. The first official night contest took place the next night, a 6-4 Cubs win vs. the Mets. Did you go to the 8/8/88 game? Any favorite memories?

Leadoff hitter of the Phillies hit a HR, and Bill Murray shouted “Turn of the lights” from the TV booth.

Attended game and remember it well,Carrie….we were interviewed in the stands by a then young Lester Holt (WBBM-TV)….can still remember the umpiring crew – John Kibler’s who was on vaca at the time – Jim Quick/Eric Gregg/Dave Pallone/Larry Poncino – drove back to Springfield, IL in a driving rainstorm all way that same night….
