Friday’s games

Jake Arrieta gave up two runs over three innings in Iowa’s 5-4 win over Fresno. Ty Wright hit his sixth home run, and Jae-Hoon Ha had three hits, including a double, and one RBI. Brad Nelson went 3-for-3, and Julio Borbon, Edwin Maysonet and Chad Noble each had two hits. Casey Coleman earned the win in relief.

Javier Baez hit a broken bat RBI single with the bases loaded in the ninth to lift Tennessee to an 11-10 win over Montgomery on Friday. The two teams combined for 33 hits, including two-run homers by Justin Bour (16th) and Christian Villanueva (15th) in the fourth. Arismendy Alcantara added a RBI single that inning to go ahead, 6-4. Alcantara, Rubi Silva and Villanueva each totaled three hits apiece, while Baez, Brett Jackson, Rafael Lopez and John Andreoli each had two hits. Nick Struck gets the start on Saturday.

This should sound familiar: Daytona’s game against Clearwater was canceled because of rain. On Saturday, C.J. Edwards gets the start — weather permitting — against Tampa. It’s Garden Gnome Giveaway on Saturday for the first 1,000 fans.

Tyler Skulina gave up two earned runs over 2 1/3 innings in Kane County’s 6-5, 10-inning loss to Burlington. Carlos Escobar had two hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Marco Hernandez had three hits, including a double and triple, and scored two runs. Rob Zastryzny gave up two hits over three scoreless innings in relief. Said Zastryzny: “It felt good to be back on the field, especially for a new team so close to Wrigley, you know.”

Kris Bryant hit a walkoff sac fly in the ninth and James Pugliese gave up one unearned run over four innings in Boise’s 5-4 win over Vancouver. Bryant had two hits, inlcuding a double, and was now batting .315 for the season. He has a 12-game hitting streak. Carlos Penalver hda two hits, and Kevin Encarnacion had three. The Hawks rallied from a 4-0 deficit and won despite tying a Northwest League record by hitting into six double plays.

Ryan Searle gave up two runs over 2 2/3 innings in Mesa’s 4-3, 12-inning loss to the Angels. Jeff Baez had two hits and Brian Bogusevic had a hit and scored a run in his first rehab game. He’s been battling a strained left hamstring.
