8/14 Minor matters
Kyle Hendricks struck out seven but gave up four runs over five innings in Iowa’s 6-4 loss to Sacramento. Edgar Gonzalez and Chad Noble each had two hits. Edwin Maysonet had two RBIs. UPDATE: Jake Arrieta was scheduled to start Wednesday, but was scratched and will start for the Cubs on Friday.
Eduardo Figueroa threw five shutout innings to help Tennessee beat Chattanooga, 4-1. Christian Villanueva had two hits, including his league-leading 33rd double. Rubi Silva had two RBIs.
Kris Bryant and Dan Vogelbach had stellar debuts for Daytona. Vogelbach homered in the first game of a doubleheader against Clearwater, a 5-0 win. Pierce Johnson threw 5 2/3 shutout innings, striking out seven. Vogelbach finished with two hits and two RBIs. Bryant homered in the second game, a solo shot in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as Daytona lost, 3-2. Wes Darvill had two hits and a stolen base.
Kane County had Tuesday off and returns to action Wednesday against Burlington.
Boise scored a season-high 12 runs in a 12-1 romp over Eugene. Yasiel Balaguert hit his seventh home run and drove in three runs. David Bote had three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs. Jordan Hankins had three hits and one RBIs. NOTE: Shawon Dunston Jr. has not played since he injured his leg July 21, but was expected to return to action late this week.
Mesa had Tuesday off and returns to action Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
