8/16 Minor matters – Updated
Brooks Raley gave up four runs over six innings in Iowa’s 9-1 loss to Sacramento. Edwin Maysonet had two hits, including his 10th double. Raley struck out seven and walked one.
Javier Baez belted a home run in the eighth inning to power Tennessee to a 4-3 win over Chattanooga on Thursday. It was Baez’s 30th homer of the season (17 with Daytona, 13 with Tennessee). Baez batted .228 in July, but was hitting .397 in August with eight doubles, two homers and 14 RBIs.
The Smokies rallied from a 3-0 deficit, tying the game on a two-run single by Justin Bour in the fifth. Frank Batista picked up his 16th save.
C.J. Edwards gave up one hit over five shutout innings in Daytona’s 4-2 loss to Clearwater. Kris Bryant had two hits and one RBIs. He’s hit safely in three of his four games at Daytona. Dan Vogelbach added a double. Edwards has not given up more than two hits in any of his four starts with Daytona.
Tyler Skulina gave up two hits over three scoreless innings in Kane county’s 1-0 win over Burlington. Marco Hernandez hit a solo homer in the second inning. Rob Zastryzny picked up the win in relief, throwing three scoreless innings.
Dillon Maples gave up one hit over five scoreless innings in Boise’s 8-3 win over Eugene. Lance Rymel hit his first home run, a two-run shot in the third. Maples struck out nine and now is 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA.
Brian Bogusevic hit a double and stole a base in his sixth rehab game for Mesa, which lost 9-7 to the Padres in Arizona Rookie League play. Greg Rohan had two hits and two RBIs.
