11/1 Elliot Soto suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Cubs Minor League shortstop Elliot Soto has been suspended following his violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Soto received a 50-game suspension without pay after a second violation for a drug of abuse. The suspension of Soto, who is currently on the roster of the Class A Daytona Cubs of the Florida State League, will be effective at the start of next season.

Good way to torpedo one’s career! Why do these guys think they can get away with it? Dumb.

Drugs….the downfall of America.

My hope the guy is dropped from the Cub Organization. He had a .244 AVG at Class A Daytona with a .331 OBP in 39 Games.
This is the kind of thing that others do not need to be around, nor does the Organization need this kind of reputation. He is 24 y/o and not passed A ball, sounds like a headache that can be relieved with a release.

My hope is the guy turns his life around with the help of people/organizations that have the means, capacity and COMPASSION for fellow human beings that are in NEED. And by so doing offer an opportunity for this “headache” to accomplish something with his life whether it is to play ML ball or contribute to our great country in some fashion. THAT is a NICE way to utilize one’s HOPE. To hope for the BEST case scenario is the way to go. Not to mention should the Cubs organization be instrumental in HELPING this young person THAT is a reputation the Cubs organization can take much pride. Yes, it was dumb and a mistake on his part but wouldn’t it be great to see him play in Wrigley one day? Wouldn’t that be a GOOD thing considering he would have HAD to earn that opportunity by renouncing drugs?

Joey, you are a true inspiration! Beautifully stated. Thank you.
