4/14 Wada PCL Pitcher of Week

Iowa Cubs pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for April 3-13. Wada becomes the first I-Cub to earn the honor since Chris Rusin did so, May 7-13, 2012. In his first week in the Cubs organization, Wada went 2-0 in starts against Nashville and Memphis. He allowed one earned run in 13 1/3 innings (0.68 ERA), walked one and struck out 18, throwing 132 of his 187 pitches for strikes (70.5 percent). His 10 strikeouts against the Redbirds on Saturday night matched his career-high. Wada enters today ranking second in the PCL in ERA, third in strikeouts, second in WHIP (0.60) and second in batting average against (.149).

Aloha Carrie- Very cool you post this about Wada. I do not know what his chances are for making the team but to hear of his success is very neat. The style of playing can be different between the NPB and the MLB. He has a unique delivery as do many from Japan and is a lefty. Maybe they will give a chance, as long as he earns it, during the season. Gunbatene Wada-san! Mahalo.
