5/3 Minor matters

Chris Rusin posted a quality start, giving up three runs on five hits over six innings, but it wasn’t enough as Iowa lost, 4-3, to Nashville on Friday. Chris Valaika had two hits, both doubles, and Logan Watkins had two hits, including a RBI double. Rusin struck out five and gave up three runs over six innings. Kyle Hendricks gets the start Saturday.

John Andreoli had three hits and two RBIs and Stephen Bruno drove in two more runs to help Tennessee beat Chattanooga, 8-7. It was the Smokies’ fifth straight win. Austin Kirk picked up the W out of the ‘pen and Armando Rivero recorded his sixth save.

Daytona’s doubleheader against Clearwater was postponed because of rain. The two teams are scheduled to play two Saturday.

Kane County scored the winning run on a throwing error in the 11th to beat Burlington, 3-2. Duane Underwood started and gave up two runs on two hits and three walks over five innings. David Bote had two hits.
