5/12 Minor matters – Sunday’s games
Chris Valaika had three hits and Lars Anderson and Logan Watkins each had three RBI to lift Iowa to a 12-11 win over Nashville. The I-Cubs overcame an eight-run deficit and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the eighth. Eli Whiteside hit a two-run homer in the sixth. Blake Parker picked up the save, his sixth.
Tennessee rallied from a six-run deficit to beat Jackson, 17-13. Rubi Silva had four hits and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. He scored two runs, hit two doubles, a triple and drove in five runs. Jorge Soler had two hits, both doubles, and scored two runs. He drove in four runs. Soler is 6-for-16 since coming off the DL. Kris Bryant had his third three-hit game and drove in three runs. He’s batting .432 in May. Jose Veras picked up the win, throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings. He walked two and struck out one.
Daytona and Kane County both had Sunday off. Daytona returns to action against Charlotte on Monday, while Kane County faces Beloit.
