6/1 Minor matters

Chris Rusin gave up two runs over seven innings in Iowa’s 2-1 loss to Nashville. Brett Jackson had two of Iowa’s four hits in the game, including a seventh inning triple. It was Rusin’s seventh quality start.

Birmingham scored on a wild pitch by Hunter Cervenka in the top of the ninth to beat Tennessee 2-1. Kris Bryant had two hits, including his 15th double. He finished the month of May batting .407 with 30 runs, seven doubles, 12 home runs and 34 RBI in 29 games with a .806 slugging percentage. Joel Pineiro started, and gave up one run over seven innings but did not get a decision. Dustin Geiger hit a RBI double for his 16th RBI.

Daytona lost its fourth in a row, 4-3, to St. Lucie. Felix Pena gave up one hit over five scoreless innings. Albert Almora had two hits, including a double, and one RBI.

Peoria scored two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to beat Kane County, 5-3. Carlos Penalver hit his first home run. Four players had two hits, including Yasiel Balaguert and Cael Brockmeyer.


Does Carrie or anyone have an update on CJ Edwards? Wasn’t he due to have an MRI last week?

The team hasn’t released any news yet, but Edwards posted on his Twitter account that there’s no pain. That’s good news
