6/7 Minor matters – Friday’s games

Javier Baez hit a two-run homer to back Chris Rusin and lead Iowa to a 2-1 win over Colorado Springs in front of a season-high 11,087 fans in Des Moines. Rusin gave up six hits over eight innings and struck out two. He was efficient, throwing 85 pitches. Blake Parker picked up his 12th save. Baez crushed his homer in the third, his eighth of the year.

Eduardo Figueroa hit a home run in the third and Jeudy Valdez added a two-run single in the sixth to lead Tennessee to a 4-0 win over Jacksonville. Figueroa, making his first start, was pulled after his pitch count reached 53. The homer was the first of his professional career and just his second hit as a pro.
